Public Relations
We're looking for a senior freelance PR consultant or small independent agency for a focused, fixed-scope campaign tied to National Intern Day (Thursday, July 30).
The end client is a US non-profit. The story involves a creative, slightly quirky angle built around new poll findings and an unusual new tool — the kind of pitch that can travel from the HR trades through to mainstream and broadcast media. We'll provide all angles, press releases and supporting collateral. What we need from you is the media relationships, the editorial instinct and the follow-through.
**The brief**
The campaign rolls out in three phases:
- **HR and workforce trade media** — outreach beginning around mid-June
- **Business media** (Fast Company, Forbes, Inc., Fortune, Bloomberg Businessweek, Business Insider, WSJ and similar) — from around late June
- **Mainstream and morning TV** (Today, GMA and similar) — through July, building to the July 30 date
This means building targeted media lists for each tier, pitching the right people in the right way at each stage, managing follow-up and responses, and providing light reporting on activity and results.
**The project**
- Approximately 20–25 hours total, fixed scope
- Mid-June start through end of July
- Remote, flexible
- Competitive rate — day or hourly, negotiable on experience
**You'll bring:**
- A strong background in PR for HR, workforce, talent or employment sector clients
- Current, named relationships with journalists and editors at key US HR trade media — SHRM publications, HR Dive, HR Executive, Workforce and similar
- Contacts with workplace/HR reporters in the business and national press, and ideally with morning TV producers or bookers
- A track record of earned coverage across more than one tier of media
- The ability to hit the ground running on a structured, phased project
If you know the HR and workplace media landscape well and have the contacts to match, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch with a short note on your relevant experience, a couple of placement examples, and your rate.
