Business Intelligence Developer

Position Summary 

Delta Air Lines is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer contractor to support reporting, analytics, and data modernization initiatives. The role will focus on helping Delta improve internal and external communications strategies by using insights-driven solutions. The ideal candidate is curious about the business questions behind the data, moves well between hands-on development and stakeholder conversation, and is motivated by making measurement faster and easier for the people who rely on it. 

The role reports to the Senior Manager, Communications Insights & Measurement, in Delta's Global Communications organization, and complements the team's measurement and research work. Expect close collaboration with communications and enterprise data partners and, as the dedicated business intelligence development resource for the team, the autonomy to scope the work and deliver with limited day-to-day direction. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain Tableau dashboards and reporting solutions. 
• Write SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate data. 
• Build and maintain reporting datasets, data models, and supporting documentation, contributing to broader data warehouse and reporting infrastructure initiatives. 
• Analyze data to identify trends, performance insights, and opportunities, applying statistical methods to support measurement and forecasting. 
• Automate recurring reporting processes. 
• Monitor data quality and proactively troubleshoot reporting discrepancies. 
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into analytics solutions. 
• Scope and manage your own workload, proposing an approach and raising trade-offs or blockers early. 

Required Qualifications 

• Three to five years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, or a related field.  
• Proficiency in SQL. 
• Experience developing dashboards in Tableau or a similar visualization tool. 
• Understanding of statistics and analytical methodologies. 
• Experience working with large datasets from multiple sources. 
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quality-control skills. 
• Ability to communicate insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. 
• Comfort working collaboratively across teams while operating independently day to day. 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience using Python for analysis or automation. 
• Understanding of data warehousing concepts and modern reporting architecture. 
• Exposure to forecasting or predictive analytics techniques. 
• Familiarity with AI-enabled analytics tools or workflows.
